I am back and loving it!!
I have owned a few Hondas before and loved them.
Then moved onto German cars the last few years and absolutely regretted it.
Now back to Honda and loving it!
Previous Hondas:
- 1994 Honda Accord Vti
- 1995 Honda Integra DC2
- 2002 Honda Integra DC5
- 2004 Honda Accord Euro Lux
Also had a few other cars along the way in no particular order (most before i owned Hondas). Ford, Holden, Toyota, Mazda & Mitsubishi.
Then i went to:
- 2007 VW Jetta & 2006 Audi A6
I thought i was upgrading. Little did i know they were both pieces of unreliable junk even when i had full service at Audi/VW. Once out of warranty i had to get rid of them. My friends with BMWs and Mercs also learnt the hard way. You dont get what you pay for these days..
Now i am back and own a CU2 Accord Euro Lux and loving it!
Was tossing between is250, but it was just too small given i have to fit baby seats in the back, and personally i think the CU2 Lux is one of the best looking sedans out there at the moment.
I know there is a new Accord Euro model coming out soon, but i just love the look of how the Accord Euro Lux sits on the stock 18s with the sunroof.

okay, here it goes.
Jetta - A/C compressor went and impacted a lot of other stuff. Dealer quoted 3-5k to fix. Ended up getting it fixed with A/C specialist but even that set me back $2k. The car stalled when it went. VW didn't care and didnt want to know about it. Other things included rough idling, FSI engine sounding like a diesel, Coil packs failing, carbon buildup in engine, and lots more!
Audi - Rough idling, coil packs failing (had to limp car home), CVT gearbox problems (cost over $3k to fix, just out of waranty and dealer and Audi had no sympathy). Oil consumption (1 litre or so every 1000kms, and apparently for German cars this is meant to be normal!! Forget about fuel consumption, the cost of oil consumption was ridiculous, considering you need Audi/VW approved oil costing big bucks), electrical problems, ie Key got stuck and could not be removed out of ignition, keyless remote did not lock, boot did not lock sometimes, park brake sensors failed etc.. and lots more i dont want to remember.
Experience from friends.
BMW 5 series (E60), steering rack problem +$6k fix.
Merc E Class (W211), electrical problems, all electrics in car just turned off when going 80km/h. Engine stalled, steering stopped, and brakes weren't working as it should. Was a scray moment!
VW DSG auto tranny issues. thousands to fix.
There are many others too, but those stick to my mind the most.
A good summary here.

I come here are read the problems, recalls on Japanese cars have and what people complain about and it is absolutely nothing in comparison. Recalls is actually a good thing. German cars have low recall rates because they sweep problems under the carpet and hope they go away!

I would recommend you definately need to buy it with extended warranty. Something we jap car owners would have never considered. If you want power, get a WRX etc. Although not as realiable as a Honda, still leaps and bounds ahead of Continental cars. Watch 'Best Motoring' to appreciate the engineering that goes into Jap cars.

na, i have mates that drive Rex's, no issues with cops.
tones of street cred and respect.
However, you have to own a German car once in your life right, so if your heart is set on a GTi, get one buddy. Life is short.

I have owned a 99 WRX for the last 2 months and have not been pulled over once
