ticking noise in my EG Honda Civic Engine HELP

Hello everyone so recently in my honda civic 1993 eg hatch back
tappets have been quiet loud
so at the moment i have done what my mechanic has told me
to do using a engine tune up flush which made the engine
sound better and a lot quieter. Now i thought my issue was
gone but when i drive it anywhere it sounds like this one
repeating tick that's loud enough to hear on both sides
and is coming from the back end of my civic but i know noise
can travel through out the car. it seems to stop when i place the
brakes on and slow down and stop, only when the car is
travelling this is happening.

Please anyone i would love some tips and advise of what
it could be

If the "Tappets" or Valves are louder than they should be, they need to be adjusted..

A search on google will tell you that.

If this mechanic told you to use "Engine Tune Up" additive he must've been very lazy or doesn't know that Honda's have mechanical valvtrains. That additive is meant to free up sticking hydraulic lifters which your car does not have.

A valve lash adjustment usually costs about $70 or you can do it yourself if you are good with mechanical stuff.

Exhaust leak/cracks can cause very audible ticking noises.

Check for stress cracks in your exhaust system.

Corrosion

and gaskets and flanges.

This adjustment is quite an easy DIY. There's a good video on youtube by 'Eric the Car Guy' that shows you how to do it. Can't hurt just to check them out before you go blowing money on other stuff

If it only ticks while you are moving, and the sound is in the back,
then it's likely the rear wheel bearings or similar.
maybe something stuck in the tyre like a nail or screw.

The problem is caused by warped disk rotors. The ticking noise is the caliper sliding left and right on the anchor pins. This can happen on either front or rear (Disk brake only).

To check the front just jack it up and place it on jack stands. Start the car and put in first gear. visually inspect for caliper movement through the wheel spokes. This can be done with the wheels off. Be Careful.

For the rear do the same but spin the wheels by hand.
