    Removing door sill plates

I'm asking this on the behalf of a friend. Basically he has the exact same car as me... a 2010 Honda Civic VTi. His car came with the non-illuminated door sill garnishes from the dealership.

The ones I paid $159 for on my car a few months back.
He wants to remove these non-illuminated ones to install the eBay LED ones. I've advised against it, but he wants the "cool" factor.
Anyway... what's the best way to remove these door sill garnishes? They are held down with double sided tape.
I know this because I installed my own ones. Basically two strips about 30cm long and two strips and inch long going vertical on the edge...

I'm pretty sure double sided tape doesn't take paint with it right? Dental floss or fishing line will probably have to come out again! (along with bug-off).

best bet is to use a hair dryer or heat gun to heat it up first then just peel it off. After that you can use like wd-40 go get rid of the leftover residue

^ agreed, use dental floss or fishing line to try remove the double sided tape as mentioned.
and bug off to remove any left overs

that's why you apply heat otherwise the adhesive will pull the paint off.
