I tested on the same spot on my driveaway and its pretty close to being flat. I even service it on the same spot. This is how dad keeps a track whos car is leaking and damaging his property lol. I will go buy a new PCV next week. Thanks Curtis.

I did de grease the engine bay on the 1st day i bought the car, detailed the shit outa it. All the smallest stains i could find got removed.

I have topped her up again, thank god whoeva came up with that 5L oil bottle idea always a bit left over for top ups.

^I'd say inspect it first - you should be able to hear it shaking around

Yea i just googled it. Guides say listen for a rattling sound, it should suck your finger. Or try putting a tick paper on the oil refiling hole and it should to try to the suck the paper.

But then again it should not cost more then $10 so might as well get a new one and replace the old one.

One way to check if your car is burning oil worse than it should, get a friend to stand on the side of the road somewhere safe/out of the way of traffic/people, then plant it past him in a low gear (2nd) and get him to tell you if there was blue coloured smoke.

if he says it had black/dark grey smoke don't worry it's just fuel. if he says it was letting out blue smoke at high RPM then your valve guides and/or seals are probably worn out.

Firstly you should run your car for a minute or so, or go for a proper drive, then let it sit for a few minutes before you check the oil. The oil needs to move around and warm up a bit before you measure it, or at least that's how I've always been told by my two mechanic friends.

Otherwise I would advise you try driving your car under high RPM at night with a friend driving behind you. If you're blowing smoke you don't always see it during the day, but at night you can see it very clearly in somebody else's headlights behind you.

If you are blowing smoke it's usually either the piston rings or the valve stem seals. Piston oil rings can leak and burn oil whilst the compression rings hold strong, so compression figures themselves are irrelevant. What's relevant is that you're supposedly leaking oil, so ignore those big numbers.

To test valve stems seals I was advised to coast down a hill in 4th gear, foot off the gas, then slam the accelerator hard at the bottom of the hill and any smoke coming out in that experiment would indicate stem seals. If not, then it's probably rings.

    You using mineral or synth?

    Another question,

My em1 has been burning oil(fair bit of it)

I just serviced 2 weeks ago and filled motor oil up all the way to the 2nd hole in the dip stick. Today before i started her up before coming to work i checked the oil and its already burn't 1/4 of the dipstick away.

There is no leaks. I have inspected the sump. Theres no stains on my drive way. Last week i thought it couldve been the rocket cover seal, as i found a fair abit of oil in my spark plugs when i bought the car. Replaced that with oem seals and no oil is found in there anymore.
    Compression Test shows 195 191 195 191.

Theres no black/blue smoke coming from the exhaust. Is there anyother reason why my motor could be burning oil?

Im suspecting piston rings, is there a way i could test these without opening my block?

    Regards,
    Amant
Have you maybe tried using some octane booster?

I am interested to hear how octane booster will reduce oil burning.

Or is this a way to test pistons rings..?

But what are we shooting at here?

what could it possibly do? fuel and oil are entirely separate.

All y'all need to do is try it out. Y'all will be surprised what a little octane booster in with the oil can do

Well I'm against any fuel additives. So sorry mate. I rather rebuild then pour octane booster down my tank. Did u also know u can get 102 premium unleaded from certain outlets in Aus?

Okay, back to the topic. Today I replaced the PCV my god honda charged me $68.70 for the valve and $40/ea rubber hosing. Came with new clips thou.

    Ill see how this goes.

Ill also do the testing recommended by dougie and da9. Thanks for the input guys. Ill get back to you after this weekend.

Replaced PCV and lines, Oil and Hamp filter today. Lets see if this works out. My one was still in good condition, so i don't think this will fix the problem. I just snapped it when putting it back in frigidity thing this PCV.

Forgot to add, Oil I'm currently using is Motul Turbo Light its syn 10-30, as its winter i have been advised to use thinner oil. When summer comes back around ill go back 20-50 semi syn.
