If a car gets written off, do I also get the car + the money ?

I got a bit of info yesterday regarding this.

If someone hits you, theyre at fault, and if they have insurance, rather than mucking around with picking the vehicle up etc, they will just pay you out, minus the cost of the wreck as quoted by a wrecker.

A lot of the time they wont even put the car on the Writen Off Vehicle Register either.

Pretty much this
Limped my car home with blown brakes
Assessor came out to my house
Said its a write off
Paid out $2900
They kept $100 for salvage
Part out car - profit

T boned
Engine and radiatir fine but insidr chasis damaged a little
I got 4k for it
Wreckers offered 475
So might send it away to wreckers as I have no room to part out unless anyone is will to take it
