    Whats wrong with my civ??

    Heres my problem.
My 96 civic vtir is so annoying to drive on the freeway, as at the moment its doing about 3700rpm at a "real" 100kmph in 5th, so its reving its **** off at 110.
This cant be helping fuel economy, and im sure its not normal.
The speedo is also 10ks innacurate, but i have calculated that in.
The car has the stock rims on it with the the original profile size, and has stock gearing...
The hasnt had aftermarket rims on it, so i dunno why the gearing seems to short.
    Anyone have any ideas??

coz they r suppose to have closer gear ration .. to optimise acc. and not designed for freeway here... i remember a stock EM1 ll do around 3300-3500 on 100km/hr..
so i guess urs it about the same....

im just trying to think where mine sits....
i think its around the 3200 or 3400 dont quote me on that but i think so
.. does it idle too high, cos it should be around 850rpm to 900rpm

if it is idleing too high it could just be that your idle speed motor is set too high its a minor adjustment which if your not confident with a honda mechanic will simply adjust quickly

I went up to the north coast on the long weekend, for me it was revving at ~4000rpm on 120km/h

idle should be 750-850rpm and 100ks should be 3000-3200rpms in 5th gear b16a

hmm so it appears mine is a little off.
Would adjusting the idle motor speed effect the rpm at highway speends tho??

I checked mine today, i was a little off my earlier guesstimate .

    110 was around 3700rpm
    120 was around 4000rpm

Fuel economy is very good at around 100kph, and reasonably good at 110-120. Fuel economy really drops off at around 140kph .
