    Boost issue

    Hi,

    I have a Mitsubishi Galant with a 6A12TT motor.

When I increase the boost to around ~16 pound and the weather is cold the car will occasionally not fire and loose power then pick up and lose again, dumping big clouds of black smoke - unburnt fuel.

But when its a hot day it is silky smooth. Any ideas what is causing this?

    Thanks.

Yep as i said get the car tuned. You increasing the air pressure. The ECU is like WTF. And its shitting its self.
Pretty sure this cars run like 8 PSI stock. Boost it max to 12 without a retune

Btw its actually a 6A13... 6A12 is the 2L V6 MIVEC in the FTO GPX/GPR...

Your ECU is going into limbo/safe mode. this has detected an increase amount of boost pressure. Meaning that there is a huge amount of A/F ratio required (probably running rich/lean too) and your knock sensor has also detected pinging. This is the reason why your getting black smoke everywhere and the engine cuts out ...

Long term Overall status = ENGINE WILL CEASE.

as from everyone said - get your ecu reflashed/or replace with after market.

oh and this is a Honda forum aswell.

    good luck.

I am glad you can use google. 6a12tt comes with three different turbos stock ranging from 4, 6, 8 psi stock and 14, 16, 18 psi free spooling respectively.

Incorrect the 8th Galant and legnum comes with the 6a13tt. The 6a12tt is JDM only. tt meaning twin turbo.
