    ap2 2005 s2000

    Hey guys.
    So I have a 2005 s2000.
Im under the impression its an ap2... But the true ap2 in the states comes with a 2.2L
    Different tranny
Different drive shaft bolts 10mm not 8
Bla Bla Bla and so on

So the ap2 was from 2004+

In aus I have a 2005 but with cable throttle. The 2006+ were TBW.

    OK so question:

Here is aus we only ever got the 2L ap2.
But my 2005 model still also uses the AP1 drive shaft set up as the bolts are only 8mm.
And the torque setting is 32N.m or something (models 99-03)

Says 04+ they should be 10mm bolts and torqued to 49N.m

So why does my ap2/ ap1 whatever it is still run the ap1 drive shaft set up.

    Just can't work it out.

I'm pretty confident in saying the ap 2 from 04 and 05 was basically an ap1... Then I find it hard to believe coz it doesn't over steer so much, Bumper front and rear is different, gearbox feels different, wheels are all ap2 spec...
But the drive shaft bolts are ap1.... I don't get it

    Any comments welcome

yeh so in late 2003 the chassis, wheels size, DRIVE CHAIN was strengthened.... but my Drive shaft is still using 8mm bolts.... same as the 1999 s2k.... and its an 05....

i have in the workshop manual 04+ tighten to 49N.m because its got 10mm bolts....

lol i dont have 10mm bolts. haha this is why im confused.... lol

So the aus ap2 didn't get strengthened parts or the suspension revisions?? It's just and ap1 with looks of the ap2?? Can anyone confirm this? If so our AP2s are way overpriced.

    2004-2005 AP2
    - They are all fundamentally AP1's with AP2 facelift and suspension, they share everything else the same as AP1's
    - They run the same F20C and ecu as the AP1's, that's why they don't have VSA

    2006+ AP2
    - They are all fundamentally AP2's, they share everything the same as other international AP2's (including gearbox, tranny, etc) but without the F22C engine
    - They run a slightly different F20C and an AP2 ecu, that's why they have VSA
    - The main difference between the F20C in the AP1 and AP2, is that the the AP2 F20C has the DBW cable, the IAT on the intake arm instead of throttle body and all of the other things it needs to be able to run the AP2 ecu (fundamentally having all AP2 core engine components excluding the F22C engine)

To say the AUDM AP2 is just a facelifted AP1 is only true for the 2004-2005 models but not for the 2006+ models

    i agree.

i noticed some differences in the gearbox and handling. but just unsure why.

tyre size is a huge factor....
but my fake ap2 does not over steer like my old ap1... and i had put wider rears on the old one and still over steer...
    ah well.

i think the AUS 2006+ model was real AP2... if im not mistaken..

Hey Phil, my car does handle a lot different with your old ap2 v1 wheels with Pirelli's on them. It seems so much tighter handling with the lower profile tyres, does feel like it sticks more though I think it's the Pirelli's over the kuhmo KU31's.
So what's the DBW cable feel like to drive?. Are turbo s2k's still able to be engineered in nsw ?

I don't have dbw man. I have cable. The real shit. Lol.
I got cable throttle on purpose.

I was asking someone that had a DBW as I remember you chose 2005 coz it was Cable. I think theres a mod for DBW to get some faster response from the throttle. It sounds like AP2 2006 on would be a nice car with all the upgrades it has although alot of guys do alot of other mods to AP1's.
does anyone in Sydney have an 2006 > AP2?
I'd like to hear their thoughts on why they chose it.
