Auto box not working in reverse

Got an auto EG8 that has recently made loud clunk sounds going into reverse but since a few days ago putting it into reverse just doesn't work/move at all now.

ATF looks fine and every other gear works perfectly just reverse has shat itself randomly

anyone have any ideas whats the go?
    cheers

does it may any noise at all now when reverse is selected

sounds like the revers actuator may have failed in the trans

Nope no noise at all - shifts into reverse as per normal but just doesn't move at all, it exactly like it would be as though it was in neutral

How costly is the actuator if that's the case?

The actuator is simply a servo, piston in a bore with an O ring. The O ring could have snapped.

Then again it could be a cracked valve body or snapped arm. Just don't know until its pulled down. The report of noise when selecting revers prior to it failing indicates worn/bent reverse gear selector arm and the selector mechanism possibly damaged as well.

Cost can only be determined once you have looked inside.
