    Final Drive Help

So I have a aftermarket final drive ring gear here but I don't know where I put the gear shaft that comes with it...

question is am I still able to use the final drive gear ring or does it need the gear shaft?

I have a feeling it's useless without the gear shaft but I'd rather double check

    thanks in advance

Yep you need the pair, otherwise the gear teeth won't mesh.

If it's different ratio to the original FD, then they must be swapped as a set.

If they are the same ratio, then theoretically you can mix and match, but that's never a good idea.

Have you taken apart the gearbox ?! Do you know what FD it is already and what you want to install ?! Because there are differences on what series (B,K,D etc.) and from Type R to standard etc.

From what I understand you have a FD set but you do not know where it the gear shaft goes . You have to take out both shafts main and counter , take apart the counter and install al the gears on the new FD , just be careful . The nyou have to put both shafts together . If you arre in Syndey , you can bring the gearbox to me and I will prepare it for you .

You can't use just the ring gear without the gear shaft .

I read it as he'd lost the pinion shaft and only had the ring gear. If he doesn't know where to install the output shaft then he shouldn't be playing with diffs - as you say it needs to be done by someone who knows what they're doing.

Ok so you've got the 5.062:1 K series FD? (http://www.spoonsports.jp/products/d...C5-101/integra) I can actually supply the counter shaft as an individual item. I'll PM the details.
