A Mate had this issue and soon enough diff blew. As mentioned get the diff checked asap. Is It a clunking sound??

Yeah but it makes NO sound when going straight or shifting or turning in gear. Only turning with clutch in or neutral.

First fix your diff mounts if they are stuffed as this may be the cause.

It is possible you may have a busted pinion tooth or two (diff gear) though because when you are neutral/clutch engaged and rolling the pinion is being driven by the crown wheel, making the noise more obvious. Otherwise it's just the clutches in the LSD. I can't really explain why it only happens while turning though.

A cheap and easy check if you're worried will be to drain the diff oil and check for metal parts. If you keep driving it with a broken pinion the whole thing will explode soon and ruin your housing (bearing caps) and possibly the LSD. They are very prone to this problem - check out our blog about it here: http://neatgearboxes.wordpress.com

I understand what you're saying chez, but when my clutch is engaged and rolling straight, it makes no noise. I don't have a clutch type lsd either, I asked the previous 2 owners.

Yeah I'd still be a) changing diff mounts and if the noise is still present b) draining and checking diff oil for chunky bits.

Quite possibly a gearbox bearing, yes. Just as likely to be one of the countershaft bearings on an S2K.

Wat! If I had strange noises from my engine I'd have checked the oil a long time before posting on OzHonda.
