    EG8 1994 Civic blown head gasket (D15B7)

    Hi
I'm new to OzHonda and know nothing about Civics.
Neighbour has a 1994 Honda Civic Sedan, <200.000km, manual transmission.
Engine is D15B7. Mechanic says it needs a new head gasket.

The car is a daily, used by an elderly couple.

Please can you tell me the pros and cons of repairing this car or writing it off? Are there any easy improvements you'd recommend along with the head gasket replacement?

    thanks
    VIN: JHMEG85400S203669
    ENGINE NUMBER: D15B73700659

personally I replace the engine. D15B7 can be found quite cheep, the entire engine change will be cheaper than the head gasket repair that may even expose worn/weak rings.

If the car is in clean shape its well worth fixing
