    Ap2 S2000 tire size

    Boys/girls
Have just got a new set of rims
    Rears 17x9 +40
    Fronts 17x8.5 +30
    Was thinking 245/40 all round
What tires size would you recommend, for both track and street
    Pros and cons..

I would recommend keeping the overall circumference close to stock as possible.
As for performance tires, i cant really say.
Many of the UK chaps like the Good year Eagle Asymmetrical F1 on the type R

Stock ap2 is front 215/45 and rear 245/40, so close to stock as possible say 225/45 front and 255/40 rear will be a good setup..

i'm running 235/40 and 245/40. I kept a bit of stagger because i wanted to keep the handling neutralish. Probably should have went 255 rear to handle the power but for my intents and purposes as a street driver it's OK imo. inb4flame

    this was on 17x7+63

First of all it depends on your handling mods, in terms of stiffness etc.

if you have an AP2 (legit ap2 not just an ap1 running ap2 sizes) then:
215 front mated to 245 rear for Standard (bias to understeer)
215 front mated to 255 rear for CR spec sizes (on ap2 suspension this will be even more planted at the rear, so more understeer bias)

also the wider you go on the front the more grip you get. at the expense of steering feedback.

if your actually an AP1 then you should be looking at a 20mm stagger 225F and 245R this is minimal. stock sizes are actually 205F and 225R but these are on a special tyre that has very unique sidewall technology, your next tyre wont have this hence you must run the 225-245. try keep stagger to 20mm at least.

ofcourse this all changes when you have coilovers and you will have to figure more of it out yourself.

2005 ap2, so yes I had the 215/245 set up on stock rims..
My plans are just coilovers, I don't wanna run heaps heaps of camber and I don't want stretched tires, so will a 225/45 tire suit a 8.5in rim with +30 offset??
If it makes a difference I'm going for a set of potenza re050

a 225 will fit, i have a 215 on an 8inch (looks like it is slightly pulled) so it will be a tiny stretch i think.

that offset is pretty low though might not fit without a bit of camber.

have you tried fitment of them already?

Cool man, abit of camber is fine I just don't want anything crazy lol

Not yet tyres will be in Tuesday and fitted, but still gotta wait for coilovers to come in and roll guards

im on 17x8+45 all round, with different sized tyres, but the back needed -2deg to sit in, the front is about -1 and sits a lil out

    For the fronts anything
Lower than +43 is not recommended, my fronts are +30...

I was meant to say earlier - i'm on 17x9+63 and i'm running nearly flush (standard suspension tho)
