Annyoed by the key ingnition beep reminder?

Attachment 26824On my car the thing drives the hell out of me when i want to listen to the radio when detailing that i have made up a circuit to deal with it.

It uses a Normally Open type relay to break the connection from the Ignition Key Switch with a Capacitor or 2 to keep the beep for a short time then stop

Circuit is complete when power is applied from a ignition source, when keys are in POS I the ignition power source is off and the caps keep charge for a short time(time depends on coil resistance and capacitor value.

I want the American key ignition beep noise - it sounds better. I just turn the key to "on" without starting when cleaning the car if I wanna listen to the radio without beeps.

It drains the battery when playing the radio with the engine not running. I'd rather bring a Bluetooth speaker and run my tunes off my phone.

I am now building a prototype for this.

I too want to detail my car and not listen to that beep beep beep.
I know there key is in the ignition barrel, just remind me for 6 or so seconds then shut up.

The battery drain is not that severer.
Well if you take 7hours to clean your car then might put the battery into a "recharge needed" state which should be fixed with a good spirited drive.

Why not just flick the ignition to to ON?

That would drain a fair bit power.

if you don't have fans running i don't think it's significantly more

it primes the fuel pump once and the ECU is on. That's not a huge load

i've left the car like th at for 4 hours and not had an issue
