Legalities of B18c swaps.

Well I made my choice a long time ago to stick with my bitch car and dump a b18c in it... I've recruited a few mates who've been there done that and are willing to help with the swap but what i need to know is: Do I need an engernears report? taking into consideration that it is a B-serries engine and civics DID come out with a B-serries engine in them?

if ur car originally had a 1.6 then no enginerres report cuz when u change ur engnie and if it's 200cc more than what ur changne from u need a certificated but if not over 200cc u dunt need it

yes the EG6 came with the bserise engine..

when u do the b18c swop dont forget to change over all the brake components cuz u need it

ok i got off my arse and found this info:

An engine which is not of the same type as offered by the manufacturer of the vehicle as original, but is similar in power, weight and emission standards to that of the original engine, may be fitted to such a vehicle. If alteration to the vehicle's frame or structure is involved and specially fabricated supports or structures are used an Approval Certificate must be supplied.

this no sort of clasifies exactly what i said... but could anyone tell me if it does produce similar emitions to the b16a??? I prosume it would.

I'm not confident your power/weight ratio will be similar. B18C is heavier but not sure by how much. Anyone got an idea?

i sourced that info calling up the RTA cuz i am doing an b16a swop on a breeze

i do need a enginerrs certificated so..yeah..

Danny: you forget that it WILL need to be engineer reported... because of the difference in power output. That is, not what the car came out with in other countries, but what your specific chassis came out with.

Upgrade the brakes to the engines spec and you will be fine

For example, A VTiR Civic could go to a VTiR 'teg engine, but a VTi Civic would prolly run into legal problems. Both would have to be engineer reported on if they went to the DC2 B18C.

I had to go through all of this when I was about to do a ZC powered ED... regardless of the fact that the JDM EF2 Civic came out with the engine, the brakes on mine were not up to the task. The engineer simply required CRX disks front and back to bring it in line with the EF2.

how many cc's is the b16a? i think i read somewhere that the b18c is like 1834cc?

You will need engineers report if the engine your going to put is an import, but if its local you dont need one...good luck
