    Skunk2 tb

    Hey guys anybody using a skunk2 70mm on a b18cr?

Having problems with mine when it gets to running temp the butterfly gets stuck and the engine idle stay at 15 to 1700rpm have to give it a little tap on the accelarator to go back to normal idle speed ive tried changing the spring with the oem one and still the same and every time you gone go and step on the accelarator you can feel that its stuck and it will go wild when you step on it bought the tb brand new from jdm yard and ive tried to fit it couple of times with the same result so i have to put back the oem one cuz the car is still my daily any advice on how to deal with it?

    Thanks in advance.

I havent used a skunk2 tb myself but a friend had almost the same problem with another brand, first of all take it out and have a play with it, first of all make sure its not the throttle cable getting stuck where it connects to the tb... like the rail section it runs along, and the ball/stub thing has room to rotate alittle once its on. If its all good there, what you might have to do, and what we did, was take the butterfly plate (sorry i dunno all the right terms!) out and slightly round off the edges alittle... nothing drastic, just smooth it out alittle with some wet/dry sandpaper....

After doing this, my mates car was fine, at first you could feel that the butterfly wasnt slamming shut, but after smoothing out the edges of the plate if felt perfect.... make sure you locktite those screws back in tho!

    Hope it helps!

Fuk that shouldn't have to do that. Sounds like you're going to have never ending issues with it, like my old s90 nugget of a t/b

Oh okay I'm running the pro series one.

I had idling issues as well.
Mine stayed at 1500 rpm with the throttle cable pretty loose and idle screw all they way in.

I found out there is this Allen key screw on the bottom I had to adjust to close the the plate that much more.
It went from 1500 rpm to 800 rpm Idling.
Then just tuned the idle screw till I had 900rpm at idle.
(Best for my car as 750-800 rpm my car vibrated a tad too much)

I think on your throttle body it is the hex screw and bolt on the right that opens and closes the butterfly)

    My throttle is slightly different
As you can see on the right there is a Allen key screw and a bolt to tighten it once you get the idle right.

    Hope that helps abit.

If this fails it's probably your throttle cable.

And just to let you know,
Make sure you don't adjust your pink idle screw to loose.
It will pop out like mine did.

I had to order once from skunk2 from California when I bought other parts.
I put tape around that screw just I case.
My car idled at 1500-2500 rpm at lights so embarassing

Thanks mate mine does have the allen key I've adjust it and still the same. Ive also tried taking out the throttle cable to see if thats the problem with no luck if i put down the allen key it goes down abit but not that much then the butterfly gets sticky. Ive got new intake manifold gasket and throttle body gasket as we'll.

You might want to take it back or ask what they think it is.

If you dont mind me asking,
What intake manifold are you running?
Im running a skunk 2 pro series one,
Matched with a 68mm pro series tb.
I haven't ported my tb and manifold to match yet.

    Why did you go 70mm?
