First Honda - not impressed so far.

    Hi All,

First post here, although we have had our Gen 8 Accord Vti since early 2013.
Been surprised so far with the niggles we have had:
Power steering whine - new pump
Engine whine around 3k rpm - oil pump?
Front rotors warped after a hard stop on the freeway
Rear shelf rattles - been fixed 4 times...still rattles....

    All this within 25k kms.

Anyone know if this is normal for Honda?

    You mean 'safety' as in
"ill let the abs do the braking for me, cuz im no good at it'
'esc because i take 90 degree corners in the wet at 70kmh"
'tc because... well i have no pedal control'

All them safety features fool you into believing you're not going to get into a crash, it may happen
But the mindset all that safety does may make you a careless driver

Sounds like you need a new mechanic, and to stop taking it back to the dealership for services.
Same as any car manufacturer, take it to the dealership for services, and it'll be expensive, and they probably won't know what they are doing (bar some)

Actually does sound like your mechanic is making you spend money for the sake of it.
Half of those things probably didn't even need to be replaced, and one or two can probably be fixed easily.

Look for another mechanic that does repairs under warranty (if you have it still. if not, just look for another one)

Otherwise, there's something you're not telling us about the car. But, 4 issues over 25thou isn't that unheard of. If mechanic isn't a scrub, could have just got lemon parts, or be driving the car too hard or something.

What a pity you got the WRONG Accord,Euro looks so much better, and is built and finished to a higher standard.

Apparently ALL the rear parcel shelves on regular Accords rattle, that would drive me CRAZY.
