1 Litre / 1000klms. That's outragess. !!Mine does not use that much (i think ) but havent done 50000 klms yet. But at 10000 klms the car only used 2 mils. So mine must be ok.
Even VW/Audi say 1l/1000km is acceptable
You need to realize in this day and age people (obviously not enthusiasts)
Have demanded fuel efficient and less pollutive cars
The downside in Hondas case was to use 0w20 that is very thin oil
The good part was meeting emissions. The bad part engine longevity is decreased

It shouldn't matter about the brand
As long as it is shear resistant and meets API ratings and I can't stress this enough
The correct viscosity oil for your engine
0w/5 20/30/40 are the only specs you should use NO MATTER THE KMS
If some salesman at Repc/SCA says use thicker oil for your engine if it has high kms
