That's open to debate - the bottle claims 'years', I'm willing to bet they'll be mellow yellow in no time.
If they get a proper buff they'll get a proper seal, I'm satisfied for time being.

I've seen people on youtube use clear coat to seal em.

You dont want to clearcoat them ruins the projects cut off line. Ive done the buff on my rear tail lights no yellowing in 6months so should be ok
