Motul to partner with Nissan NISMO in its new LMP1 programme!

It is official, Motul announced its comeback in LMP1, the top class of the World Endurance Championship! The brand is indeed now the partner of the brand new Nissan LMP1 hybrid which will compete in this championship that of course includes the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. The two companies have worked closely together to develop this racing machine. ‘We are extremely happy and proud to be back at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the top class,’ stated Hervé Amelot, President of the Management Board at Motul. ‘What’s more it’s with Nissan NISMO, maintaining the excellent working relationship we have had together for the last 11 years, and with whom we share aculture of innovation and ingenuity. (…) We can’t wait to see the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO being let loose on the ‘Hunaudières’ straight at full speed!’

Meanwhile, NISMO President Shoichi Miyatani commented: ‘We are delighted to welcome MOTUL to ourLMP1 programme. It’s a brand we trust after working together for over a decade in Super GT. The title that we clinched together in 2014 is the best proof of a successful partnership. LMP1 is going to be our toughest challenge yet so we need partners we can rely on. MOTUL was the obvious choice for us.’

The cooperation between Motul and Nismo stretches back to 2003 and, last year, they celebrated their 100th race together! The season culminated in a further Super GT title for MOTUL to add to the seven already achieved with the factory and private teams over the last 11 years.

The new LMP1 challenge for 2015 at Nissan and Motul represents a technical pinnacle which will reflect all the expertise and experience gained to date. The Prologue, the official pre-season test sessions, will take place on 28 and 29 March at Le Castellet circuit: it will be the first time that the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO will be seen on the same track at the same time as its opponents.
