CRV 2004 radiator flush and new coolant

    Hi guys,

I checked the level of coolant and its below MIN mark. I bought my CRV two years ago and have never done this by myself.

I would like to ask for advice where is the radiator drain plug located?

Do I have to use 'radiator flush liquid' or just buy coolant and refill?

What type of coolant to use? In manual was info to use only genuine Honda All Season
    Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2.

    Thank you.

The radiator plug can be found ath the bottom of the radiator. It's looks a bit like a plastic wingnut.

What coolant to put in depends on what kind of coolant is alerady there - note the colour and buy the same.

If it comes out relatively clean then you'll be OK but if it looks like it's full of rusty chunky bits then you might need to do more flushing

It's a very messy job if you have 2 left hands like i do

    Thanks for your advise.

Also found some guide on the net:

    1.Drain Cooling System
    2.Refill radiator with clean water
3.Add Radiator Flush to cooling system
4.Start Engine and turn on heater
    5.Run engine for 10 - 15 minutes
6.Turn off engine, allow to cool
    7.Drain cooling system
    8.Refill with appropriate Coolant

Are these steps all I need to do ?

You may also want to make sure once you fill the system up with new coolant that all of the air is burped out of the system....

Personally I would drain out the block, as well as the radiator.
Make sure temperature setting on hvac is on heat.
Fill with distilled water if money is no issue or tap water will suffice.
Run until fans come on twice.
    Drain radiator and block again.
    Fill with "honda coolant" .

These steps are no compromise procedure. You can cut corners if u wish

    Thanks a lot guys.

Apart from official Honda dealers where can I buy Honda All Season Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2?

Found this one but not sure if it falls under " genuine" Honda category.
