But this includes labour ($500), suspension ($unsure), on road costs ($1.3k), tranny (1-1.5), adapter plate ($1.5)

Wait this could actually work, but my mate who is keen to help me with the swap doesn't want to touch the h series.

I will update you guys when I know

The Fab cost for the H swap will cost around the same as K swap.

You may as well do the kswap cos newer, 6 speed tech, better platform to make more power, better aftermarket support.

I can keep going on about the benefits.

I have driven a boosted BB6, Wasn't even what I call fast or nimble or agile.

I do agree that a K swap is generally the way to go due to the power that can be made. With $8k budget I'd say it would be pushing it a lot if you were doing a K swap.

The only thing I could suggest is to get a JDM LSD H series gearbox. Some of them do have shorter ratios aswell.

    Code:T2W4
    1:3.285
    2:1.956
    3:1.344
    4:1.034
    5:0.812
    FD:4.266
    JDM lsd

    Code:T2WA
    1:3.285
    2:2.090
    3:1.481
    4:1.071
    5:0.812
    FD:4.266
    JDM lsd

    Code:T2T4
    1:3.285
    2:1.956
    3:1.344
    4:1.034
    5:0.870
    FD:4.266
    JDM lsd

Here are some LSD boxes and ratios for H series engines. Thread: http://www.hondatech.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=2599
