    2004 2.4 Accord alternator

According to our road service guys they have told us that our alternator is on its way out as the battery will no longer charge and the alternator is cooking as it pumps out a measly 10 volts. Had one quote this morning of $500 for a new one and that they are not repairable ??? Very frustrating as the car has only 55,000k's on the clock. What to do i.e. get a new one or risk one from a wreck (we are in Adelaide).

Try eBay. You can get one for about 250

And sadly, alternator is one of the weaknesses in the Honda range that's prone to failure.

Bought mine from ebay for about $250 a few years ago for my 2005 Euro. It was an after market one. So far, no issues. The faulty ones can be reconditioned so you could get quotes, but may be cost to recondition exceeds the cost of a new after market one.
