    H22A Engine Oil

    Hey OzHonda,

I'm at a point where I'd like to change the oil I'm using. I'm currently using a very thick 20W-50 conventional Nulon.

My car is going on to 227 000 kms soon and I was wondering about a different oil thickness (not sure about going semi or full synthetic)

I believe that it is too thick and I was think of going towards a conventional 15W-50.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

that's very thick... Are you burning much with the 20w-50?

If not then try the thinner oil. If so, stick with it

It's more to do with condition rather than KM's

Generally I have to top it up as it gets to the low point after between 1000kms-2000kms.

I'd say it doesn't burn it like crazy.

    Owwwww...

Go 15w40 if you are scared.

I used to run 10w50 which was nice.

    Cheers Renzo!

I'll try 15W40. Should I stay conventional also?

Try a 15w40 synthetic, you should be ok with that. Anything thicker you will have a bad time

Pick the thinnest you can with a rate oil consumption that doesn't send you broke

I tried all kinds of viscosities and didn't see any change in consumption.

Mineral vs synthetic - have a read ere m8. I didn't bother with synthetics after a while http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars...a2316/4232672/

Thanks for the link Curtis! Will be reading up. At the moment I'm leaning towards conventional to start off with rather then synthetic.

I have about 2000kms until my next oil change so I'll hopefully have decided by then.
