    Is it really necessary to use Honda Power steering fluid ?

    Hi guys,

    Is it really necessary to use Honda Genuine Power steering fluid when topping up fluid ?

    Yes and no.

    It doesn't have to be genuine but it has to be a honda specific type of fluid, honda power steering uses a very thick fluid.

    Way I see it you got 3 methods.

    1. Use honda power steering fluid
    2. Use Penrite HPSO (honda power steering oil)
    3. Add a special additive sold by lubeguard to any power steering fluid (basically thickens it)

    if you want to be completely safe, just buy one from Honda dealer.

    As said before - yes.
    Use only honda power steering fluid.

    I;ve only used real honda stuff.

    But a fair few mechanics who are honda people, have told me that penrite is alrite too.

    Should check if your f2n really has k20. I think could be a L15a if using electricity.
