I've had a friend recommend the Apexi VAFC neo for my CRX and to be honest I'm not familiar with the way these things work. I've done a fair bit of research on how it's supposed to work and whether it will give me more power or not and I can't find anything conclusive. From what I understand, it will give my ecu a reading different to what's coming in from the MAP sensor in the air intake and then the ecu will feed the engine fuel based on that reading.
I've decided against rebuilding the engine in my CRX and for the moment I only want to tune the car for the mods that I have: (stock air intake inc resonator, 4-2-1 header, 200 cel cat, Fujitsubo Legalis R catback).
Will the Neo be able to give me any gain from the mods that I've done? I understand that a programmable ecu (Hondata s300) would be much better for me but to be honest I can't justify an s300 plus dyno costs to tune breathing mods.
Also, I've heard that messing around with the amount of fuel that the engine burns can potentially overheat the engine and decrease it's life. Any truth to this?
