Dear friends,

I would appreciate your advise on fixing or replacing a leaking power steering high pressure hose.

I own a 4 cylinder (2.4 Lt) Honda Accord 2007 (wide-body, not Euro). The vehicle has been well maintained and always serviced by Honda. They had never mentioned any issues with the hoses and it never has had any fluid leaks. Recently, I noticed the power steering fluid was low and up on a quick inspection noticed a leak from the high pressure hose, near the engine clamp that holds the hose, as it crosses over the engine.

I have contacted a number of Honda service dealers in WA, and they charge $430+ just for a 1 meter long hose (with the labour closer to $600)! It is a somewhat "special" high pressure hose and cannot be obtained from the local suppliers that I have tried. An alternative option, offered by hose specialists, has been to refurbish the existing one which approximately halves the total cost, yet, may result in excessive noise as the fluid is pushed through the refurbished hose.

I found out that the Accord Euro's hose had a recall because of safety concerns regardign leakage, but Honda Australia rejects fixing the wide-body models (like mine), even though they too wear out over time and leak in a similar manner. In fact, I discovered that Honda dealers in WA (& perhaps other states) sell the hoses rather frequently! Despite, my continuous support for genuine Honda service and parts, Honda Australia have let me down, and the only option they have given me is to spend $600 for a part which basically fails prematurely.

I have been advised to consider purchasing the part online but unfortunately I have not been able to easily track down the part number suitable to this model. Honda are not willing to give me the correct part number either! In the USA, the Accord may have different suffixes and not sure which one would be the correct one and I definitenly do not want to get the one for Accord Euro (mine is the wide-body)

I would appreciate your help regarding the correct OEM part number as well as any other suggestions you may have. Thank you.
