Ben get a Mongoose M80G, get it installed by a professional, or do it yourself.

I'm sure you are capable of getting it in.

What makes viper so much better ?

Is it the lack of all black wiring ?
The non standard compliance to aussie standards, which insurance often requires ?
The unsafe remote start feature ?
The warning system which only works if your with ear shot of the car ?
The remote batteries that need to be replaced frequently ?
The single point of immobilisation ?
The non-battery back up siren ?
Or is it the huge price tag ?

    How bout a Viper?

Is it worth getting a 2 way tranceiver such as Viper 5000 alarm?

    Apart from the downside that..

    it doesn't have black wiring..
    Batteries run out easily...
    No Window Sensor...

Is there any other pros to choose a Mongoose over a Viper?

since we're talking about alarms and animals, i say stuff the above and go for DOBERMAN. They dont eat much and can bully people around if provoked, bonus is they're fast and have very large fangs

Another thing to think about when choosing an alarm system is if parts are readily available to you, the alarm companies themselves and do they comply with Australian standards.

Make sure you choose an alarm that is popular in your area and parts are easily accessible.
For example it's no good to you if you buy top-of-the range car alarm from china or USA because if you need an extra remote or extra part like faulty shock sensor or whatever you can get those things but how long will it take and how much??? Not cheap coming from across the globe. And if you need support it's going to be pretty hard to get.

Anothing thing is if you are looking for a professional install make sure you know who will be installing the alarm. Just because the person who spoke to you about getting an alarm installed will be the person installing the alarm. For example is going to a car alarm store and you speak to a person who you think knows what his talking about and then you choose to have it installed by him but then find out that an apprentice has been working on your car. Sometimes big franchise or companies do this.

Choose a car alarm that is most popular in your area (check your car alarm shops) for example Sydney would be mongoose and rhino. As these company has been in the game for years and years they will always be around, support is just a phone call away and parts will be easy to get as most car alarm stores in Sydney will know about these alarm meaning easy to get parts tech support wouldn't be hard.

Recommend mongoose as they comply to Australian standards, offer 3year min. warranty to 5 year warranty for top of line which company will offer these warranty as standard. This shows how confident and quality there alarms are did i mention reliability.

There alarms are also turbo timer compatible which means turbo cars with mongoose alarms can hook-up t/t and with engine running can arm the car without waiting for engine to turn off and no modifying crap to the alarm.

Hope this help in choosing your alarm.
Remember choose alarm if there easy accessible to you (parts, support), company background of alarm and reliability don't just choose alarms because it has fancy functions.

All mongoose and most car alarms can add on most optional extras such as central locking for keyless entry, window closures, ultrasonic and microwave sensors etc, etc.
