Removing Backseats !

Hey guys i'm trying to remove the back seats from my EK1 but i seem to be having troubles

I can take out the bottom of the seat (where your butt sits on) but the backrest (what you lean against) i cant seem to take it off .. it seems to be stuck down to some kind of rod looking thing .. has anyone done this before? how do yo uget the backrest of the backseat out !

Theres little clips on the rod that stop the back rests from moving sfrom side to side (left to right). pull the little clips off then slide the seats to the side and they come off easy as pie.

Are you after reducing weight in the car or covering rear seats with seat covers?
