    [Euro]Wheels don't fit?!?!

I got myself a set of 2nd hand rims that i wanted to fit onto my euro.
they are Advan AVS model 5.
    18x7.5 pcd 5x114.3 +48.
As my car's still at Honda, i took the rims down and asked Honda to help me fit them. I left them there and was told to pick up my original rims the next day. i called them up this morning and they said the rims don't fit?
    anybody has any idea why?
i asked them and they said well not all 5 studs fit...
    well...does it??

Call them and ask why - the only thing I can think of is that the spoke design doesn't clear the caliper. That would be unusual given those specs though.

The spec should be fine.. offset 48 is perfect for Euro.. Albii's 18" has offset 48 too. OEM is 55... so 48 should be far away from rubbing the guard..

The only other problem I can think of is most likely the hole in the centre of the wheel is too small to accommodate Euro's rather big projection in the centre.
see, Euro's OEM 16" fit on IS200 perfectly (Baboo put his OEM 16" on his wife's IS200). But When I tried my brother's IS200 17" Five-spoke wheel on my Euro. The centre bit hit... so maybe u want to check on that as well as rim hitting the caliper.

TwEigh: do u have problem with offset 42?? tyre rubbing on guard? what size is your rim /tyre? is your euro lowered?

Nope The wheel worked fine, no rubbing. My wheel is 18" and 225/40 is my tyre size.
and yeah i lowered my car by changing the spring. My friend's Euro got 19 inch wheels and he has +38 offset.

I tried my friend's supra wheels today. He wanted to get rid of them i was gunna buy it off him for $1000. I only tried the front right wheel and it protruded out almost by an inch. Is this the 'offset'?

jl88rl: wat are the tyre size and the rim's width?
correct me if im wrong, i think euro should be fine with offset between +40 to +52
    rim width between 7j - 9j
    tire width 235 and under
    above 235, u need spacer

It is not the offset - I have 7.5 inch wide rims in a +48 too -that is a good size. But the design of the spokes may be the issue.
TwEigh - those numbers you posted are way too ambitious. eg 9" wide and a +40 offset? Asking for trouble with that sort of combination. Yes, it may fit but it is going to put some major stress on the suspension and bearings. And that is before you even think about whether that size is legal on the Euro.

The general consenus is +42 is the reasonable limit and 8" wide. Personally I recommend people go for +45 or abovein a 7.5" wide. If you search the internet you will see plenty of reasons why not to go too low with offsets.

Always use this before fitting rims:

Thats a handy little calculator Yfin...nice find!

Just out of curiosity, do you know the offset of the Honda 17s?

Also does anyone know how much the OEM 17s weigh as fitted?

It might not clear the front caliper

This guy has 18 X 8 ET+35 offset, the caliper to the rim is quite close already.

But then the AVS model 5 has curved spokes, it should clear the caliper with ease...unless you bought some 5 X 100 stud by accident?
