OK, I got my Acura RSX-S(DC5R) gear Knob and Comptech short shift today
The Type R gear knob, it's not titanium but it's good enough!
The installation is quite easy actually:
1. Here's a shot of original gear knob
2. Just pull down the plastic ring in the leather boot
3. Unscrew the stock knob until it come off
4. Take off the panel surround the leather boot by lifting it up and it will unclip itself (disconnect the seat heater plug if you have a luxury model). Fit the new black plastic ring supplied with the gear knob to cover the leather boot.
5. fit the knob, job done.
Impression: First, it looks and feel awesome! The shift stick is a wee little bit shorter due to the RSX knob screw down further that the stock one.
Had a little test drive around the block, the throw is more direct and solid due to the weight of the knob. ( roughly 5 times the weight) it certainly worthy of $50 bucks! $US36. Honda is asking for the same thing for $330. thanks, but no thanks.
Overall, I'm very happy with this gear knob, I'll do a review once I've install the comptech short shift kit.
