There are many ways to tell if an EG is a genuine JDM SIR.
Engine / Exterior -
- Of course it will be a b16a. Make sure its an original JDM b16a. This can be done by checkin the engine number. JDM b16a will have "B16A" imprinted on the block. AUDM will have "B16A2" [Note - Ive seen a SIR with an AUDM engine like this tried to be sell off as a JDM one]
- As Garret mentioned. The plates will confirm. 99% of the time if its legit (in vic anyway) it will have a Yellow Plate.
- Front and Rear disc brakes
- Rear lower control arms will be fatter than all other EG models. If you know what ITR LCA are then you will know what im talking about.
- Check for faded decals cuz they are pretty hard to imitate. DOHC VTEC on the sides, SIR / SIR II on the rear above the headlight.
- Rear wing will be a slightly higher angle to AUDM ones and have a larger LED brake light (probably double the size of standard ones).
Interior -
- White Gauge Cluster with 8200 RPM redline
- Amber dash lights
- Climate Control Unit
- All of the original SIRs ive seen have black dash + panels. (EG6/9 regardless)
- Gathers Headunit + speakers. Front + Rear (unless they have been replaced)
- 2 seater rear seats (significantly different to AUDM seats)
- Arm rests for rear passengers (that double as small compartments)
- The back of passenger seats are plastic, like the rest of the boot. Has 2 side rear and 1 large middle compartments.
If anyone is thinking of buying one.. especially in melb contact me first. I know of atleast 2 fakes (semi-fakes) that are on sale atm that you should know about.
