If u r after a good mid priced sub, go for the alpine type-R which you can get quite cheaply off ebay ($200-$250). If u have more money to spend i would suggest a boston G5 sub. They pack a really good punch and if connected to a decent amp, won't distort easily. If u have around $450 to spend on a sub, get an alpine Type-X sub off ebay, GREAT subwoofer for its price! These prices are just for the subs themselves, you will still need a sub box, RCA cords, and installation. And buy good quality cables, because it makes a difference!

If u r thinking of buying a new amplifier to compliment your new sub, make sure its a monoblock amp! It will out perform the standard amp when dealing with a subwoofer (but not speakers). And grab your favourite CD and take it to a specialist car audio store, and play it thru their subs to hear what sounds good with the music u listen to. Ie: for hiphop u might want a lower bass and for rock u might want clarity.

If your putting car audio into a teg like i did, u might want to think about sound dampening so your japanese made doors dont rattle with every bass noise! U can buy sound dampening kits where you attach a film to the inside of your door frame then paint sound dampening cement onto the film. It helps stop that rattling but adds extra Kg's to your car (if you really care).

    And please dont buy Sony!

i have 2 alpine type s in a tiny sealed box and it put ou 142.xdb last weekend on termlab. there a great sounding sub and at a very competitivly price. look at the alpine winter catalogue for deals with them. i think theres one where you fet 2 type s's and a mrdm605 mono block. that would be about 300wrms at 2ohms. make sure you get the 2+2 ohm model so the amp can run at 2 ohms.

go DD1012s or any DDs for good bass and a sub that can handle the power.

pioneer-1000w of power--> peak power.. which isnt realli anything to get excited about.
