Question H22A where does it come from?

    Hey all

I've swapped a JDM H22A engine into my 93 prelude. Can someone please tell me where this engine originated from like what model prelude and the power output, i've searched on the net and i'm getting misleading info i think..i gotten replies quoting its a :

    SiR 97+ prelude engine
    Type S engine

i don't think the above are correct? please clarify this for me im confused

I know the the H22A1 are the standard vtec engines for my model car, and the H22A4 are the USDM prelude engines for the 97+ wth is the H22A from then?

    Thanks for your help

    the JDM Prelude Si-Vtec (92-96)

They have a bit more grunt in them (rated close to 200hp) as opposed to the AUDM h22a1 (190hp)

The model is came from is a BB1

Actually to be more precise, have a look at this:
    Year Model Engine Generation Displacement
    CC's Compression
    Ratio Horse
    Power Torque Country
    97 + Si R H22A 5G - BB 2157 10.6 : 1 200 @
    6800 rpm 161 lb/ft @
    5500 rpm Japan 97 + type S H22A 5G - BB 2157 11.0 : 1 220 @
    7200 rpm 163 lb/ft @
    6500 rpm Japan 92-96 Vtec H22 4G - BB 2157 10.6 : 1 200 @
    6800 rpm 161 lb/ft @

    Ok that SO didnt work

    Have a look here

    http://www.streettuners.com/curve/en...s.html#prelude

    In short:

    H22 is from 92-96 prelude Si-Vtec
    H22A is from either 97+ Si R or 97+ Type S

All jdm h22a have only h22a stamped on the block so your's should have H22A XXXX, also take of the exhaust heat sheild and look at the stamps on the front of the head, it will tell you which month and year the engine was built. Then look at the 1st 4 letters/numbers of the gearbox ( sticker on top of the tranny near the starter motor) and find out if its LSD or not. If its got M2B4 on it it's LSD

my h22a came out of a 96 JDM BB4 prelude, it has M2B4 tranny and H22A stamped on the block. the rocker cover is black and it is rated @200hp
