r u sure about that? Honda told me that the red key is to make a backup key if you've lost one of your black keys....

yeah it does make backup copy (main purpose), but they also explain never to put it in the ignition as it wipes the memory.

    hi,
I just bought a 98 Prelude VTiR and it only came with one grey key and one black key... no red key... does this mean if I lose my black key I can't get another one made?

When I bought my 2001 VTi-R it came with

    * 2 x Black Keys - Master keys, work with everything + have immobiliser code chip
    * 1 x Grey Key - Valet key, works with ignition and boot to allow the valet to park your car/load in your bags etc

If you read, I think it's the user manual... it says that you can buy the Red key from Honda, and that it is used to re-code your immobiliser should you lose your keys.
