    [accord94-96] short shift DIY

Disclaimer: The following is provided as a GUIDE ONLY, and neither myself nor Ozhonda take any responsibility for the outcomes of someone else doing the following. You follow these steps at your own risk!

Aim: installation of short shift adapter to reduce shift throw by 25%

Required: phillips head and flat head screw driver, 12mm socket and 10 mm socket (or was it 8mm), #2 allen key, SHORT SHIFT ADAPTER, 1994-1996 honda accord.

    Steps:

    STEP 1
    remove your shift knob first.
center console lift the middle part using your nails or the flat head screw driver. also remove the cup holder by lifting it out.

    STEP 2
remove the screws that have been circled

    STEP 3

remove the single which is on the right upper corner.

then remove the centre console by lifting it from the back end and basically remove it without breaking anything.

    STEP 4
also another picture i missed out on was once the removal of the centre console complete, unscrew 2 screws that hold the surrounding in place. you will be able to see...if i have time ill post pics up.

As you can see, this is the area which will be concentrated on.

    STEP 5
now with the 10mm socket remove the bolt which i have pointed to.
    be aware its TIGHT

    STEP 6
now get the sexi short shift adapter and insert the lil pole into the hole which is just below the holey rod (apart of the vehicle). lso ensure that the allenkey screw is lossened.

    STEP 7
now insert the screw bolt in and TURN baby TURN

    Pretty isn't it?

    STEP 8
now with the bolt that you removed... put it...(follow the picture)

Once that is done, tighten the allenkey screw.
    nd wallah

    STEP 9
Now ensure that everything is done nice and tightly

    BEFORE

    AFTER

    STEP 10
Now reverse step 1-4 and put your stuff together.
    ensure all gears are a-ok.

now go and take it for a drive.. one bad thing.. you'll get use to it in a matter of days and will feel normal until you drive another stock manual accord

nice write up dundas! How does the shift feel compared to the stock accord?

I'd like to also mention that there is a screw behind the ash tray which you can remove to make the removal of the gear boot surround/stereo surround alot easier to remove. it means you dont take the big black box out with the surround.

Also, u have to unclip the plug on the digital clock, hazards button and ciggy lighter and pull out the tray below the stereo you can pull the whole surround out and move it out of the way.

did you find the short shifter hitting the top of the exhaust pipe? i tried installing mine on my civic then failed because the shifter couldnt be put in gear 1 or 2 , i looked under and it was right up against the exhaust pipe preventing movement, then i had to put the stock one back on..
