ok, so we have had the *wats vtec* discussion.

now IN CONTEXT with dohc, and sohc, whats it all do... hows it all work...

from what i remember that was said....

vtec, kicks in in highrevs and gives more continuing power because of air/fuel something something.... but thats with twincam dohc... which has exhuast, and someother inlet.outlet in the cam shaft.... ??? correct???

    hahaha im so lost....

    what then waht about sohc?

because for example, there are the pure sports bred dohc vtec engines from honda, then theres the sohc vtecs from engines such as the eg civic vti and accord vti-L and v6l..... and then also jsut plain dohc nonvtec engines from cars such as eg civic si......

so wats what? whats good? waht does waht.... how do they work.... all those sort of questions

thanks! heres a thinker of a question...... or maybe not...
    when do we hit vtec?

The SOHC VTEC is a system that achieves mild power gains. Usually, SOHC VTEC engines gives about as much power as DOHC non-VTEC engines of similar displacement. Whether or not the added complexity of the VTEC mechanism off-sets the simplicity of SOHC (versus DOHC) is up for debate.

SOHC vtec works on the intake side only.. no exhaust side alteration.

I suggest you read that.........a few times.

    SOHC VTEC if for economy

    DOHC VTEC.

It gives you the comfort of a smooth idle for driving around town, with higher lift cams for better performace for 'spirited' driving when you put your foot down and spend most time in the higher rev band.
