My NA Build - Please Comment

Can the experts please comment on this build?

    1. Base b16A engine
    2. EK9 Pistons
    3. AUDM DC2R rods
    4. ARP Rod, head Bolts
    5. Spoon headgakset (thinner than OEM)
    6. full port/polish

Am i missing anything or will anything not fit at all? i understand that i can use OEM B16A rods machined but i wanted to go for strength so contemplatinc DC2R rods

    cams/ECU will come later...

Why go DC2R rods.. just get some eagle rods... I’m sure there cheaper than stock rods and much stronger! What about bearings for your crank/rods new thrust bearings... lower and upper engine VRS gasket kit, type R oil pump, new water pump, new timing belt, plus other belts.

And to be honest I would even look at aftermarket forged high compression pistons! Again a much better option than EK9 pistons. Higher compression is what you want with a 81.25mm bore size.

I would also consider not starting the project until u have enough money for cam’s and ECU, why only do half the job 2beging with save and do everything at once, if you can’t afford it save more money.

You'll need a B18C block and B18C crank if you want to use the B18C R rods.

I drove an EK9 the other day that I am considering buying with this combo in it and it was incredible for an NA car. Late 13s, low 14s at the track. But these cars are about circuit anyway.

B18CR bottom end with B16B pistons
    B16B head and cams, manifolds
B16B type R ECU (am sure the fuelling would be a bit light on)
Compression is very high at 12:1, the car I drove is fed 98 and has so far last 15000kms with this engine combo.
    Stock head gasket.

Now B18C EK9 or EP3? Man it is hard here in NZ for choice...

You don’t use OLD water pumps n timing belts on a NEW engine rebuild.. even if you just installed these parts into your current engine !!! get EVEYTHING new !!!

Thrust bearing = what some people call a throwout bearing. Used to disengage the clutch (pushes against the diaphram spring in the pressure plate).

Sure you need to replace the essentials but can't say I agree with James on replacing EVERYTHING. Inspect and replace whatever gaskets, seals and bearings that need replacing.
