Easy way to fix those annoying sound when your antennae not extending fully or doesnt come down all the way is with a can of WD40 and some rags.
I just fixed my few days ago and now it is working fine.
You basically just pull out the antennae out fully, spray the wd40 on the rag to give it a clean first to remove all the crap thats collected on it over the years, then spray some more on the antennae so it is lubricated. and finally turn on/off your head unit few times to work the wd40 in.

dont listen to the radio then

ive got a JVC head unit and my antenna stays erected wen not listening to radio....looks so gay....what wire shuold i be looking for to fix it???....

yeh mine goes up fine, until it's almost fully extended then makes a grinding noise when almost completely up, then just clicks instead of detracting. I'm gonna try out some wd40, cheers for the idea , but I suspect internal mechanism is broken, and if it wasn't originally probably now is from pushing it down manually a few times.

I replaced my with the S2K one. Only cause I broke the OEM one on my CF Wing.
Benifits = The replacement cost & weight difference and wind resistance. Reception is the same, and I can't break this one.
Yes it is amplified. So you still need that power wire. You'll need to make a little 6in bracket with 2 bolt holes, then it's just a simple unbolt-rebolt job.

I had the mysterious clicking on mine as well, opened it up, is just two cogs interacting with each other, if your ariel has had a knock (or your g/f decided she wanted to listen to radio half way through a car wash, i.e.my car...) the teeth on the cogs can sheer off, thus the clicking/slipping noise

i have a Xplod deck and my antenna used to come down when i switch over from radio to CD, but just recently after my car needed a jumpstart and went to mechanics for a new master cylinder, the antenna constantly stays up even when im playing CD!!! so so weird!!!
Anyone got ideas on how this may have happened??

The s2k antenna seems to be the way to go! But i wouldnt want it in black. Does anyone know if it would interfere with the signal if i painted it? Also is the s2k antenna better quality than the teg antenna? It seems as if rubber would be a bad choice to try and pick up a frequency!

ok so it came time to fix the problem the nice and easy way...
i took out my Pioneer deck, disconnected the black antennae cable and went to check it. THE MOFO IS STILL WORKING SOMEHOW!!!!
im over it.
can anyone explain that shit. .. the IMMORTAL ANTENNAE!!! if theres other stufff i need to pulll out be specific coz it is a mess back there with cross-overs and all (not my bad, previous owner!)

Ha ha, mine is making the clicking and banging noises when extending fully and when it has retracted. It's hellish loud inside the car! I'll give that WD40 method a go.......

Hey, Just reading this thread, How do I disconnect the aerial in a CD5 Accord??
I rarely listen to it, is there a way I can access it in the boot and stop it from working completely?
