yea something similar because my friend got a cheap lancer evo4 in hk during his visit as his uncle deals with cars and got it for him cheap, i think totally he paid $32k (car was modded quite abit too) but when he wanted to import (he knew shit all about the private import law) that he ended up selling the car.

thanks for refreshing my memory about private imports 8)

anyone know the deal with the 15 year rule then

i dont get how CRX's can be imported unless you can because they are 15 year old cars?

I might be interested in getting a nice 89+ integra xsi (b16a) in a couple of years then.

There is no limitation on importing 15 year old cars irrespective
of wether it was sold here or not.

New rules about to come into play will mean that the cars will have to be exactally 15 years old to the month.

ie. Manufactured 6th month 1989 model cant be imported until 6th month 2004

Ignoring personal imports, the only other way you can import say a JDM DC2 type R or DC5 for that matter is as a race car only.

But you need to have the following:
    Current CAMS C3 license minimum
    Record of recent racing activity
    Car club membership
    Plus more....
