    Rattling when Accel pedal is fully pressed

    As topic mention, I hear engine rattling?? when i press accelerator pedal when in motion and at speed . This is from an EG4 Hatch d15b2.

    What is this noise?

    overstressing the engine ? Does this happen when you are say going up a hill in a higher gear ? Try putting it back a gear

    could be your engine pinging. dude to incorect ignition timming or carborn build up in the combustion chamber causing preignition

    my first thought, pinging. try some 98 octane. rufe1's carby is pinging 2

    I'v got that same problem, i find if u keep the rev;s high you should be ok, less strain that way, like bennjamin said. Or if you find it happing too often try get your timing checked?

    yeh id start with retarding the timing at the dizzy. check with a timing light first off, make sure its set correctly. otherwise fill with the best petrol u can. try a carbon clean. maybe new plugs.

    Hey mate,

    Are you sure its the engine? I had a similar problem where whenever i depressed the accelerator, I had the worst rattling sound. Ended up being the resonator in the exhaust that had shat itself.

    Could be a possible cause. Just try and pinpoint where the sound is coming from. It could be useful to have a friend rev the engine in neutral while you are outside the car and listening for where the rattling is coming from.
