    spoon calipers on Ek's

    hi there

question for those that have spoon calipers on their ek's or know someone that does

i just wanna know what needs to be done to fit them
do i need spacers? rims with different offsets

i wanna know what exactly needs to be done to fit them into my EK

i found this off the web, from spoon

"Installation for DC2R ('96 specification), EG6, and EK4 : Although this caliper product has been specially developed for the EK9 and DC2R ('98 specification) 15-inch rotor, it can also be used for the DC2R ('96 specification), EG6, and EK4 if the front rotor is replaced.Furthermore, in accordance with the setting of front and rear brake distribution and P valves, it is recommended that the size of the rear calipers and rear rotors be increased. EK9 and DC2R ('98 specification) brake pads will be required; furthermore, when installing on a normal-configuration aluminum body, a spacer of approximately 15 mm will be requiredl."

    yes it can be done.

    you need

    - 2 x spoon calipers
    - 2 x 282mm rotors in 4x100
    - modify the knuckles or do it like Spoon (running a spacer between the hub and rotor to offset the discs and calipers)

    - 15" rims will clear with a min offset of +42 (not all wheels but generally) or you will have to run spacers

and dont forget to cut a little section from the dust shield in order for the calipers to fit on the rotors.

well perry, yonas i think im having a step up from that problem. im finding my installation a little more difficult.

i currently have the spoon ap1 forged monoblock calipers, 300mm rotors and pads to fit s2000. but to get these fitted is a friken headache!

all i am aware of atm is that im goin to firstly need a new hub for the rotors as i got 4x100 stud pattern. but to fit the calipers i think i need both custom brakets and spacers to bolt them up??? but where can i get my hands on these to fit my ek? =o(

im also thinking about sourcing rear s2k brakes and try do a custom install to match the front brakes so its a little more even. argh headaches!

does any one know some quality brake specialisits to help me out on this.

i no the feeling on ur question perry!

i'm not sure what you are trying to achieve in using the spoon s2k mono-block.

    the solution is quite simple.

sell the mono-blocks and buy the twin blocks that is for your car.

IMO spoon brakes are overrated .. there are better brands that are cheaper and provide better performance. i.e Wilwood or hybrid Honda parts
