    Wheel/Tyre Upgrade on EK1

OK im going to be upgradeing the wheels on my car from the stock 175/60r14's that are on there atm (EK1 CXI) for a few reasons.

Firstly it is due to the fact that the stock rims (and caps) trap heat in around the front brakes and it causes brake fade like a whore when hill driving.

And secondly it is the fact that 14's look like crap and id prefer to get better grip.

Now the Question i have is can people give some recomendadtions of diameter and width that would best suit the kind of handeling i am after.

The kind of driving i do is a lot of Hills and Winding roads (Adelaide people think chain of ponds / Norton Summit type areas).

I dont want to go over 16" for rim size but a bit of advice towards tyre choice and width would be appreciated.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks
    A.G.

i say either 15 or 16's will b sufficient and wont make much of a difference either way

15x7 rotas - boutz 700-800...plus a decent set of tyres (205/50)~ 600 fiited balance and aligned...will bring u in well under 1.8k budget

16x7 rotas - boutz 800... plus a decent set of tyres (205/50)~ 600-700 fitted, balanced and aligned will still bring u under 1.8k budget easy...

look in our traders section u can get anything from second rims to brand new geniune or replica volks and toyo tyres at bargain prices....

you probably already know but its not just the tyres, suspension and struts play a bigger role in handling then what ur rolling on...

By the sounds of it you will be using the car for performance, so some 15" wheels will be the way to go.

Put the majority of your money into tyres. Coz this is what keeps you on the road. Get some Bridgestone GIII's or similar 205/50/15 should be between 600 - 1000 can't remember prices.

Once you have chosen and found prices for the tyres, then try to find some rims that will fit into your budget. There are many second hand jap performance rims out there. Also look into the rota rims, as they are cheap, light and good.

Yeah just get a set of 15's (they all pretty light as is) then crank on some sticky tires. Try some Advan AD07 or 048's they are excellent.

For handlign go 15s like the others said..
For a bit of looks go 16s..
I used to have EK1, but sold it now for an EG

I had 16s on them I was happy, some might think 15s are a bit small..
But which ever size you always get good tires.. more important I reckon

agreed with what ppl above posted (15 or 16's, and dont budget on tyres)

if you are heavily considering larger brakes in the future, 16s might be better. Tyres for 15s would also be cheaper.

Toyo T1R is another tyre to consider

    Yeah as someone mentioned before...

Planning on doing the 4point brake upgrade to larger brakes so im thinking that 16's might be the way to go.

    thanks to those that replied

Now to hunt down a nice set of black 16" rims

Oh yeah NEVER planned on looking at cheap tyres just once i finalize the rims i can get the width correct to suit.
