there is a reason for this.

but then again i only have one more bolt on the starter to remove then i should be able to separate the block from the tranny....

i'll see how it goes i guess...

yes, but how are you going to do that with the gearbox input shaft inside the clutch, wich is attached to the flywheel which is attached to the engine????

by brute force by the sound of it? are you planning on reusing the clutch?

    yeh ur right

i think what i might do then is hoist the engine block up and have the tranny connected to the block....

the tranny would then be pointing upwards and then i will remove the bolts and slide the engine off the ISB that way...

hoist aint coming for a few days so do you think that would work?

i think thats what the guy from d-series did...

just bolt the engine back to the gearbox fully and wait for the hoist.

that way you wont break anything!

i hope the gearbox/engine is supported from underneath or above via a engine crane !

IF you somehow manage to get that block and GB out ( somehow i think it will take some time for you) they do weight quite alot and will crush limbs and fingers...BE CAREFUL

    good idea thanks
with the hoist it will be easier to remove the engine from the tranny right?

you should remove the engine and tranny at the same time and seperate them out of the engine bay!

you seem to want to leave the tranny inthe engine bay?

    why!?!?!

well, from the guys i've spoken to on here, i get a varied opinion as to wether it would be easier to leave the tranny in place or remove it...

that's the only reason i'm indecisive as to leave it in or remove it

  12. #24
well, there is no reason i know to bother with all the trouble of leaving the tranny in place...

EXCEPT to avoid removing the bitch-pin holding the shifter rod in place...
