I want more power in the bottom end of my prelude because its dead slow up until 5,5000 rpm. But once in vtec, its not too bad.

    Anyone got any ideas?

try advancing your ignition timing to be a little more aggresive.. but not too far ok

Advancing the timing will help the bottome end out but how far will depend on the fuel u are using, 98 RON is the best if you are going to do this.

The main purpose of vtec was to have a fuel efficent car with power when needed so its not that your car is power less under the cross over point its jst maintaining low fuel consumption.
what modds have you done??? also opening up its breathing will help you get to the red line quicker ie. intake and exhaust.

What size wheel and tire combination are you using?

^^ as Dyno Dave mention about wheels, wheel size can determine your performance.

I think he was referring to if the wheels were had a larger rolling radius and were wider - this'd slaughter initial acceleration (e.g. a 215/35/18 set of chromes)

I've got 215/45/17s ( i think) and they're the shinny bling bling ones that came with the car. What do you getting at, Dave?

Im thinking of getting a CAI because I had a full CAI system in my dc2 integra and it was cool.
