    clutch problem

When you press the clutch down you will either get a little bit of a squeak and when the clutch is either fully pressed or released you will get a "click" sound. You can get away with it for a while by oiling the area behind the clutch pedal

they say (on club rsx) its a master cyclinder problem. if you want more details go to crsx and do a search.

I’m sure guys in other states can recommend places to have cars inspected.
Thats excellent. Now we have a specialist in Sydney, Melbourne (covered in other forums) and now Adelaide. I'll be sure to get it inspected at those place if I have to source a car from those states.

If anyone from Brisbane knows one that'll be great

My plan is to get it Inpected interstate, buy it and send it to Hanny's while still under warranty

hey guys.. sorry if im hijacking this thread.. but i too have been looking for a Type R, i went and looked at this DC5R at the dealers, from far the car looks like its in mint condition, but once i opened its door it didnt seem right... the coin tray has been broken and whenever you touch it, it falls off, on the right hand side of the panel next to the steering wheel, where you get three plastic looking buttons thats not buttons... one is missing... and in the boot a plastic cover for something is also broken, but other then that the car seems to be good, its done 56,000K's its a 2001 model and its going for $27,000 is that a bargain? or should i stay away from it?... the dealer said its lost its log books.. and that he will fix all the button/trays/plastic bits that have broken off... should i go ahead with the car?

No log books for a 2001 model? Sounds a bit suspicious. I won’t buy any R without a proper log. Sometimes a car is that cheap for a reason.
Please ask this question in a new thread next time.

ive had my dc5r for almost a year now so will add my 2c

the recaros usually get worn on the bottom door side support of the seat, the top part where the seat belt rubs is only applicable if the driver was short and had to have his seat close, mine is spotless...

best to find one that does not have any damage, shows the care the previous owner took, something small broken means its more likely something big is broken or will break... and no logs should stay away

i got mine with full logs and no damage

with the 1-2 shift my car had this but only a small case of it - not as much as others... i got REDLINE MTL gearbox oil and it is pretty much gone - rarely do i get a rough shift anymore, so every DC5R owner should try it

id give thumbs up 2 a dc5r but only if its in good condition, ive seem battered up ones cheap, long term its a bad choice

Great! This thread is also turning into a recommend a good Honda specialist’s thread.

Now all we need is Perth, Darwin, ACT and lil Hobart.

I saw a black one today. Good ks, poor exterior and interior. exhaust pipe was pretty black. It wasnt as bad as a B series vtec but I thought the k series ivtec no longer did this? If it’s true, the car was not looked after very well.

My DC5R has only 55,000kms done as my exhaust pipe is pretty black too. When i bought the car 2 months ago it was clean and shiny, now within 2 months its all black inside and around the tip. I thought it was weird for such a modern car.

    Must be a VTEC thing.

Do you regularly service the car at a mechanic?

Yeah the log books show its been serviced at Honda every 10,000kms since brand new.

And i even did a oil and filter change after i bought the car.

This is my first VTEc so i just assumed its a Vtec thing.

that happens on mine and its done 42000km. you will see it on most cars but probably more so on vtec cars because they do use a bit of oil so make sure you check your levels regularly. it will look worse on cars with chrome exhausts like the the dc5r too.
