Hit vtec and broke my lsd

as above last night i snapped my LSD unit in my box

I was launching in 1st gear hit vtec and then it just let loose
    now the car want drive

I cant find much info on aftermarket lsd's

has anyone broken there LSD before?

should I get stock type R one as replacemnt or aftermarket?

what are the pros and cons of different LSD's?

not 100% of what box I got but its B series and cable clutch with factory LSD

i don't know about LSD, but i want recomend you to get aftermarket LSD.
such as spoon, mugen... etc... i think it is not that much differece between aftermarket and factory LSD. maybe it is good chance to up-grade the LSD.

if the problem truly is your LSD unit (are you 100% sure ? have u had the gearbox apart ? might be ur clutch has blown or driveshaft ?) anyway IMO id try to find a second hand ITR LSD ...then if not searh for a aftermarket LSD and then finally spend bigtime and grab a new ITR one

I thought that a car is driveable if the LSD is not working

Doesnt a damaged LSD just cease to function and acts like a standard open diff?

the car is drivable but barely
I can move it round on flat surfaces revving it hard and slowly moves
its not the clutch and definetly not the drive shafts

when in gear the car can be pushed around easily

i think you shattered your clutch plate, its still drivable because there is still friction (pressure plate ---> metalparts & rivets of plate ----> flywheel) you are describing the exact same symtoms i had when my exedy blew up.

Jack the front of the car up.

turn one wheel foward and see if the other goes the same direction to determain if lsd is still working.

try start the car up in 4th. if you can then its the clutch plate

If it hasn't been changed its likely to be a Quaiffe LSD .
Apperently they are a very well engineered and strong unit.
Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent..... 14% of people know that.
