Vtir head swap
anyone ever changed there b18c2 head for a type r head?
any good power gains? im looking at this in the future. just a maybe thought.
is it worth the swap? ofcourse considering the ecu would be swapped. would i have to change anything else?
can anyone explain there experience.

he might want to do this so he can upgrade to the itr intake manifold?
Type R head is a good upgrade if the price is right but don't expect to get huge gains from it.

Skunk2, blox , edelbrock make manifolds for b18c2 im sure they are much better than a factory ITR

it makes more sence to me to just get a PnP done and get after market mani.
a ITR head would cost an arm and a leg!!!

It's an idea but to do it would cost more then just getting a PnP, cams, and a manifold. It's would take about the same time to do both but a PnP on the B18C2 could be better than the ITR. You could do flow test until you get the best numbers. You can do it to the ITR also but then you bought the head and now a PnP for it, so even more money. Save your money and stick with the stock head, just do work to it.

yeah, sounds alright i think ill just stick with the stock head and mod it. how much power gains should you expect with the head work and ecu? comparing to stock.

How good is the engineer and technition?
and then how much cash are u gonna throw at it?
Sort out how much u want to spend over what time ie: are u going to build it up over time or just whammy it all in quick time..
easier to work out your power figures then, knowing what u want and what mods ur gonna exactly and for what exact purpose..
Just with head work and a ecu, prob not a whole lot: but factor in higher compresson, intake manifold, throttle body, aggressive cams, the best headers u can afford ie toda, exhaust and a really really good tune and then u would be gettin somewhere!!!

Unless you plan on upgrading the conrods, boosting a Honda engine generaly isn't a good idea (unless you don't mind blowing your engine up eventualy). Sure it'll make good power untill to goes pop, but the conrods on VTEC engines are light weight to get the revs happening, and not strong enough to deal with decent boost. At least, this is what I hear.
As for the Type R head, why not get a Type R block too? Better (lighter) conrods and higher compression.
Alternativly, as has been mentioned, get the Type R plenum, New lumpy cams, new valve springs, port and polish (carefull who you go to), extractors and exhaust. You might also want a lightened flywheel (I know my integras flywheel is as heavy as an Elephant with a penchant for junk food) clutch and suspension work.
My take is an atmo 1.8ltr is never gonna make massive numbers. I'd focus on suspension first, if you haven't already. My Integra handles like a monster even on stock suspension. Put coilovers, new sway bars, tower strut braces and a Type R LSD in the front and not much is gonna be able to out corner you.
