    Unichip VS PowerFC

ok as the question asks which ecu should i go with.....the unichip or the powerFC

-what are there pros and cons?
    - how much and where can i get it, then get it tuned

I was quoted about $1400 for install and dynotune for a unichip here in Brissy. I think that the unichip is ok if you are only going to do mild mods. But then again there are better options out there for the money.

    I agree.

Not to dismiss a Unichip as a possible upgrade - because when used on a slightly modified car - they do achieve good results.

They specialise in very mild modifications eg: filter, exhaust and are able to either dyno tune or remote tune - given the mild mods etc you email or phone through - and they estimate given the tuning experience.

I emailed them recently about a unichip/fueltronics chipped ECU i have - to have it retuned - and unfortunatelly they don't allow for more mods than the ones listed. Cams, cam gears, Extractors, injectors, turbos etc - they simply don't support.

Power FC however is a bit more friendly in terms of tuning, its widely supported pretty much in all states and retunable - for other more upmarket mods.

oh yeah - and you pay about thesame amount of money. I'd give the Power FC my preference IF you're planning mods in the future.

    Hope this helps.

thats way too expensive for chip... i was quoted around $700-$800 installed and dynotune (1 dyno before and 1 after chip installed to prove the difference)....

I think it depends on the chip tho

i was quoted $900+ tuning etc - for a Gold98 or something. Other chips are cheaper.

no sure mate, they just dont tune them past the basic mods - that was the case for me anyway - being in located in Perth, and Unichip being located in Melb or Syd. Perhaps on a dyno - they can tune futher...

I remember I asked about Cams and cam gears etc - and they asked me 'Why do you want to upgrade that?'

I hate to break your heart, but PowerFC is not a option they don’t have a unit to suit the v6 Accord Euro. As I’m sure you are aware there is very little aftermarket support for your car, if you had to put a ECU in id personally go with a Motec M600 or M800 depending if your car had drive by wire or not, if the v6 is anything like the Euro there are many many many sensors and features controlled by the standard ECU which makes things very tricky.

i wouldnt bother with unichip or power fc if i was chasing for more power after getting IHE upgrades. i'd buy ems, motec or any other aussie-made ecu system.
