plastic covers inside door trim

wondering what the purpose of the plastic sheets inside the door trim is for. i heard that it's to stop moisture or rather. is it needed?

im putting the vote for moisture protection - since the windows wind down with water and gunk on them all the time , it keeps the dampness out of the electrics etc.
Its needed in the long term - ive ripped mine out and no effect , but then again my electrics are stuffed anyway.

I was thinking more along the lines of dust and dirt getting into the car through holes and the like in the door trim? Moisture is also probably not a bad idea.

so there wouldn't be a problem if i cover up the power window console from the back and rip all that ugly plastic out right?

anyone advising not to?

Why not just remove it and put it back on after you have finished?

take it out if you dont mind havin your aircon on and a window open same effect.
It seals the car when you put the aircon to recirculate it wont work as good as it should

ah really? it figures it doesnt even cover the back of the electricals

well i just ripped it all out, damn old plastic cracked everywhere when i took it off so i won't be using it again.

well i live without using me a/c so it's no big deal, but does it seal the car that much?

All it does it keep water and crap out of the inside of the car and whatever you have on the inside in the car. Mine all deteriorated and I haven't noticed a change.
